Maui Pitbull Rescue - Saving souls one dog at a time

Maui Pitbull Rescue (MPR) is the only no-kill pitbull rescue shelter in the state of Hawaii. Located on the island of Maui, MPR works with local animal shelters to save dogs off death row and adopt them out through the MPR program. It is MPR's mission to rescue, rehabilitate and find forever homes for unwanted, abused, and neglected pitbulls. Some of MPR's rescues have come from breeders who abandon lower performing dogs, deformed puppies, bait dogs that have been dumped by dog fighters, injured and lost hunting dogs. MPR's services offer these dogs the window of life, allowing the time necessary to find forever homes for these difficult or unfortunate dogs. MPR aids local police and fire departments as a first responder in situations involving pitbulls. If there is a car accident, home rescue, or other emergency situations involving pitbulls, MPR is called. MPR also works closely with the Humane Society, SPCA, local breeders, hunting clubs, veterinarians, and other animal rescue groups.

Peanut's Story
Peanut was our poster child. She was turned in to us after being dumped in someone's yard. As you can see she had a hard time of it, being used as a bait dog for dog fighting. We showed her face on craiglsist and fantastic things happened for her. Her original owner saw the posting and came and got her. She was stolen out of his yard at only 2 months of age and he still had her littermate. Wonderful little Peanut is now safe once again.

MPR has upwards of 80 pitbulls in its program at any given time. Since its inception in 2003, over 1000 dogs have been rescued and many remain in the program. This number grows daily.
